My name is Jamie and I am a wedding and high school senior photographer in Portland, Oregon. My belief is that every women carries with them a unique story of beauty and my goal is to illustrate this beauty through photography.
I try to do at least one personal project a month. I worked with Breanne to explore light and movement during this shoot. Breanne is a dancer, so I loved the juxtaposition in these images of her casual clothes and the city background against her graceful dance moves and natural beauty.
I am always challenging myself to explore natural light and learn to use it better. I do a lot of my sessions in the last several hours of day, when the light is soft and glowy. As a challenge, we went out and did this session around noon. I used open shade, the white side of my reflector, and natural reflectors from the buildings surrounding in order to create flattering light and bright catch lights in Breanne’s eyes.
On a sidenote, I loved working with Breanne! I always try to get to know my subjects a little bit before and during the shoot. This allows them to relax and truly be themselves in front of the camera. We went to coffee before the shoot, and it was there that I first discovered that Breanne is a unique, free spirit who has traveled all over South America and carries with her an incredible sense of humor!
