Summer, summer, au revoir… NYC’s hottest months tend to be.. just that, HOT.  The kind of heat that makes you wish you had a third assistant, if only to fan your subjects with a dose of much needed comfort.  In the summer, the sun rises to its highest point in the sky, and as it sets, it slams down into the horizon at a rapid pace. So the “golden hour” tends to be quite short.  As such, It is with no surprise that I annually welcome the coming of the Fall (both, for photographic as well as personal reasons). WIth its comfortable range of temperatures, pleasant breeze, and golden maple leaves lining the floor.  I also welcome the sun, which—to put it simply—is just more manageable. It sets at a narrower angle, and takes its time.  Add in a few trees to filter its intensity, and you’ve got a recipe for light as sweet as lemonade. The Golden Hour during Fall is the only golden hour a photographer ever needs. For us, Central Park is not only our favorite place to shoot, but our clients’ as well.  It’s probably THE most convenient (and well known) park in NYC. It offers everything from a castle (with a pond full of ducks, of course), to beautiful meadows, streams, giant rocks, and of course.. the skyline of the city.  But finding spots that are free of crowds isn’t easy.  And while we don’t mind having a few hundred out-of-focus tourists with bright pink shirts walking behind Mom & Dad, I’m quite sure it’s a print that won’t sell.  So every summer Sophie and I scout, and every summer we seem to find a place in the park we’d never been to (honest, Central Park is that huge).  Here are a few photos from a recent session from a newly discovered piece of land, complete with a beautiful family, set amongst the beautiful scenery of Central Park, with (you’ve guessed it), some beautiful light.
