I am a pet and family photographer located in Pittsburgh, PA and my journey into photography was not typical.  The first 13 years of my career was spent working as an animal trainer at various zoological institutions on the east coast, including one headed by a large rodent in Central Florida.  I had the pleasure of working with dolphins, seals, primates, goats, and many free-flight birds over those years, and it was with those animals that my passion for photography started.  When the time came to have a career in which my schedule could be more flexible to see to the needs of my two young children, a photography business was born.  It is so much fun combining my love for photography with my love of interacting and training animals.

For the past two years I have been honored to be one of the photographers working with the Western Pennsylvania Humane Society’s annual calendar.  The calendar is a chance for proud parents in the Pittsburgh region to show off their favorite furry companion and great fun for the photographers that get to create the images.  I was particularly fond of this session as this young 13 year old girl and her dog, Butter, who was originally named Butterscotch from her previous owner, are a certified therapy dog team!  Therapy dogs and their handlers need to go through special training and pass certain certifications before they are permitted to visit nursing homes and hospitals and these two have been a certified therapy dog team for over 2 years already!

Butter was the most well behaved dog that I have ever had the pleasure of photographing!  She was of course thrilled with my stinky and yummy treats, but also very content to work for some belly rubs or for the opportunity to play with her stuffed raccoon!
