In January I started planning a shoot directed towards teen girls (my market is high school senior girls) and I wanted to show the hot new trends gracing the runways, but in an affordable way that girls could wear to school and over spring/summer break. I also wanted to add a little twist and base the models off Alice in Wonderland characters – which was a challenge. Of course planning this in January, when none of the fashions had hit the stores yet was difficult (sadly, now all these fashions are abundant in stores).

I wanted to feature: neon and nude combos, layered lace, stacked jewelry, high-low skirts, transparent clothing, orange and mint. I also wanted to touch on the popular hair, makeup and nail trends that you see all over Pintrest: fishtail braids, colored ombres, blue cateye, orange cheeks, awesome nail art, matte nail polish.

The characters I used needed to be able to translate into these fashions and have a personality as if they were a real girl. :)
Alice is the adventurer that wears a dress without flaw. Her fashion is based on a tomboy chic look – girly, but comfortable. Channel with boating shoes!
The Red Queen is confident and ahead of the crowd. Her fashion is based on what is trendy, simple and powerful. Orange tribal, mixed prints, with a touch of mint! She is not afraid to show those legs.
The White Rabbit is a mix of emotions and all over the place. Her fashion is based on a dancer who layers almost excessively. She has trendy items, but uses them all at once.
The Mad Hatter is a little off, a little cluttered, but not shy. Her fashion is based on the art geek. She loves color and is not afraid to wear it. Excessive in her accessories because she may end up using them in an art project.
The Cheshire Cat is the wild child. Colorful, outgoing, a bit aggressive. Her fashion is based on mixing girly items with a slight biker chick. Matte nails with glossy tips, colored hair, dangerous jewelry. She gets detention a lot. ;)
