This session was really lovely for several reasons. For starters, I am a lifestyle children’s photographer, so the occasional adult session is a fun change of pace (oh my goodness, did you just take direction AND have a clean nose!?). My beautiful subjects are the ever so talented, Paul and Leanne Sargeant of Sargeant Photography, and I was returning the favor for the incredible family photos they had just taken of my little clan…so you know, no pressure!

The local farmers’ market was a natural spot for our shoot, and provided an added narrative that is so true to this couple’s personality. I apply this same sort of thinking to my family sessions and love how it always ends up feeling like we are visiting instead of racing for that one great shot.

I am a self-taught, natural light photographer living in Thousand Oaks, California.  I have always loved taking photos but it was not until my good friends asked me to take their engagement photos that I truly embraced the art.  I bought a DSLR in March of 2012 and my love for photography has only grown since.  Being able to transform a magical scene from my imagination into a photograph is truly exciting and gratifying.
I had been wanting to do a whimsical shoot in the mountains for a while as inspiration.  Sara and I wished to create our own fairytale in a beautiful location.  We decided to keep the shoot simple and tell a story through the nature around us.  I have always gravitated towards movies such as Tuck Everlasting, Nell, and The Secret of Roan Inish because the land tells a tale of its own.

Lemonade and Lenses is super excited to be giving away a copy of Design Aglow’s Photographer’s Marketing and PR Guide & Calendar.  I absolutely LOVED reading through this guide, especially with senior season approaching.  My absolute favorite part of the guide is it’s calendar.  I have a HARD time keeping up with little tasks such as blogging, sending thank you cards out and little marketing tasks.  Normally it all comes down to one day and I am rushing to get them all done.  But this calendar gives you one task a day to do and it makes those little things so much easier and not as stressful.  Full details on the guide can be read below.

Anne Moshier - Craptastic: my desk has been described by the use of many words but “craptastic” has to be the best I’ve heard… Too say its messy is a compliment; I even have a paperweight that reads “Lord, bless this mess”. It belong to my Grandmother when she was alive bc of her craptastic desk and my family passed it onto me for obvious reasons! My desk is a reflection of my schedule: I know where everything is, I’ll even get it all done but at the end of the day when I finally get around to leaving my studio at say, oh 10pm at night, I look & feel as craptastic as my poor desk! Daphne - I recently graduated College with degrees that my family couldn’t be more proud of. But when you decide to do something you love, rather to follow the path that your parents/family took, it’s always difficult to find support, and well to find your footing. I’m in the process of launching my photography business. I’m currently still in the “portfolio building” phase, in regards to how I charge clients. I need to continue to build so I can narrow down my style, without sacrificing my love of subject hoping. I.e. I LOVE NEWBORN photography, but I also love shooting Editorial/conceptual portraiture. And I believe that I will be able to do both, and I don’t necessarily need to limit myself. I know that I’m young, an idealist, just starting out – but i believe that this guide will really help me in all areas of photography that I’m unfamiliar with. I taught myself how my camera works, I didn’t go to school for it (i wish). I saved up for over a year to purchase my new camera…and well, I am dedicated.

I just need a little help, I need a guide to point me in the right direction.
