These are things that made up this session. A local makeup artist and I got together to brain storm on a fun session to get ourselves out of our wet wintertime blues. When we met to discuss it, we knew we wanted high fashion and couture. Then when I pulled out my stash of “GracyLu Original” hats and hair pieces, the puzzle came together.

Jennifer and I knew who our two models were going to be, and based on that, we chose the hair pieces that we wanted them to showcase. From there, we went clothes hunting, choosing very chic and edgy clothing to accent our “center pieces”.

When it came to the day of the shoot, it was downpouring torrential buckets of sleet, so we drove up almost 4,200 ft above sea level to the Lolo National Forest and used the natural backdrop of the forest to accent our high fashion, couture style. SUCCESS! The haze of fog coming through the ravine of the mountains gave us a sense of mystery and romanticism that is hard to replicate!

About Katrina: As a self taught, on location, natural-light photographer, belief in the fact that there can be no backdrop more beautiful than the one God gave us in nature is my inspiration. My style is classic, contemporary, and stylish. Nothing I do is cookie cutter, because I want each session to be unique and fresh!

Joy Maynard - I think Katrina is one of the most promising up and coming photographers! She is correct that the natural beauty of God’s creation makes a perfect backdrop to the talent He has bestowed in Katrina and her eye for beauty through photography!

This styled woodsy couple session was taken up in the mountains. We styled a little coffee date, complete with candles, snuggly blankets, and an antique thermos, coffee press, and mugs. I wanted the session’s atmosphere to look chilly, but the subjects to feel warm. It turned out to be the perfect Fall couple session. If I knew that Pebbles and BamBam were so darn cute, I would have watched WAY more Flintstones when I was growing up!

This adorable pair’s mom booked their session months and months in advance to make sure they had prime Fall colors for their photo shoot. Even though we had to reschedule once because of cloud cover, we only had to put off the session a couple days. I’m so glad we did because these cutie-patooties looked FAB with all of the sunlight and amazing colors! We spent a beautiful evening together at a local park surrounded by the unbelievable reds, oranges, and yellows of Autumn.

So you may be asking yourself what kind of doggies are they? They are Pomeranian/Cocker Spaniel mixes that happen to be a doggy accident (cover Pebbles and BamBam’s ears!). Two dogs met at a bar-b-que (I’m not kidding) and the rest is history if you know what I mean!

I am a Charlotte-based photographer that captures modern images of posh pets. Being in love with photography since I was 12 and obsessed with animals since I was born, I can now happily say that I love my job – the perfect combination of the two! I’m the proud fur-mom of 2 dogs and 2 cats. When I’m not photographing clients’ pets, I donate my time photographing canine events for the American Cancer Society and fundraisers for local rescues. I also photograph adoptable dogs at the Humane Society of Charlotte.
