A little about my business and me: I’m a portrait, lifestyle and wedding photographer based in Missoula, Montana. I’ve been shooting professionally since 2009. I work almost exclusively with natural light and I love sunrises and sunsets. I also like coffee, smiles, longboarding, summer bike rides and the ocean. I often joke that photography chose me, not the other way around. I was asked to shoot a friends senior photos when I was 15, and so I picked up my first DSLR; a Canon Rebel Xs. At the time I thought I would maybe use it for backpacking and hiking, but definitely not for more portraits. When I shared the senior photos though, a flood of requests for photos came in. So for the several months, I did free shoots and learned how to use my camera and editing programs. When it was time for the next year of senior photos, I was open for business. Later that year I shot my first wedding. Now, at 18, I work almost full time with photography, am a full time university student at UM (finishing up my sophomore year this semester!) have upgraded well beyond a Rebel and love what I do.

About this shoot: I had the privilege to work with Laura Viren on this shoot. She is an absolutely gorgeous model. I cant remember who contacted who first, but I was so giddy to work with her (who wouldn’t be?!). Only issue being she lived 3 hours away in Bozeman, MT. About a month of excitedly sending each other ideas for photos, styling, wardrobe went by and I finally found a date where I could get down to Bozeman to shoot. As soon as I got there, we met for coffee (at 8pm!) and discussed specifics for our shoot the next day. We ended up getting so lucky with perfect light. It was definitely an adventure, as I had bought a disposable underwater camera for some photos and both of us ended up entirely submerged in the Gallatin River, which even in August is absolutely freezing. Laura was so wonderful to work with, she was giggly, funny and got back in the water for one last photo even though her teeth were shaking. I can’t say enough great things about her!
